The erase tool is built on LaMa, an inpainting model trained to fill holes. You paint a loose mask over the object — a coarse brush is enough; the model finds the bounds — and the surrounding pixels become the basis for what grows back.
On a simple background (sky, wall, fabric) the rebuild is invisible. On a busy scene a second pass tightens the seam. Either way, the cleanup reads as if the object was never there.
